F. Tóth Benedek – Az író, aki nem lesz árnyéklakó

Nemrégen látott napvilágot F. Tóth Benedek író, újságíró, szerkesztő második kötete, amely a Nélküled a jövő címet viseli. A szerző kilenc science fiction novellája és egy kisregény kapott helyet a könyv lapjain. Az sfportal.hu a magjelenés kapcsán készített interjút az íróval, faggatva őt önmagáról, írásairól, olvasóiról és a munkájáról.

nelkuled_cimlap_vegsoSFportal: Ez a második novellásköteted, ugyanakkor több millió leütés van már mögötted, azaz hosszú újságírói múlttal büszkélkedhetsz. Vázolj fel nekünk magadról, kérlek, egy pályaképet!
F. Tóth Benedek: Pályaképet többnyire az szokott vázolni, aki valaminek az elején áll, vagy éppen a végén. Remélem, mindennek a középen állok – no, persze, nem úgy, mint Dante, aki egy nagy sötétlő erdőbe jutott, nemde. Tény azonban, sajátos utat járok be, a tanári pályától kezdve, az újságíróskodáson át egészen az írói lét megtapasztalásáig.

SFportal: Ez mit jelent?
F. Tóth Benedek: Dolgoztam már annyi mindenhol. Televízió, rádió, napilap, hetilap, magazin, internetes újság. Jó volt megtudni, mihez értek, s mihez nem annyira. A televíziózás például nem nekem való. Nem nekem való a kirakatvilág.

SFportal: Miért, a szakmád, az újságírói munka nem kirakat?
F. Tóth Benedek: Nagyon is az. De amire ma azt mondjuk, hogy újságírás, annak kétharmadában köze sincs ahhoz. Magyarországon ma inkább az érdekírás a divatos. A közszolgálat az éppen aktuális hatalom szolgálatát jelenti, a kereskedelmi média szerkesztőit pedig éppen az érdekli a legkevésbé, akinek műsorokat gyárt. Manapság többnyire csupán hivatkozási alap az olvasó, a hallgató, a néző. Az érdek, az ösztön és a reklám korszaka ez, amelyben nem könnyű szakmai alapon dolgozni. Szerencsére vannak kivételek, de ezek a műhelyek – reklámok hiányában – többnyire a tönk szélén, a megszűnés árnyékában egyensúlyoznak.

SFportal: Akkor minek csinálod?
F. Tóth Benedek: Szeretek egyensúlyozni. Szeretem érezni azt, hogy tétje van annak, amit csinálok. A hallgatóimnak mindig azt mondom a főiskolán, hogy csakis azzal foglalkozzanak, amit szeretnek, amihez értenek. Én az íráshoz, a szerkesztéshez értek. Megtanítom nekik azt, hogyan kellene újságot írni. Abban reménykedem, hogy egyszer eljön az idő, amikor szükség lesz szakemberekre, akik nem csak alanyt és állítmányt tudnak egyeztetni, de azon kívül, hogy érzik, mekkora felelősséggel jár a munkájuk, arra is képesek, hogy mindezt nagy műfaji változatossággal tegyék.

SFportal: Látszólag ritkán és keveset alkotsz irodalmi téren, hiszen hét év alatt „jött össze” egy novelláskötetre való anyag. Ez az újságírói munka miatt van, vagy kényelmes szerző vagy, aki hosszan érlel egy ötletet?
F. Tóth Benedek: Nagyon is sokat írok. Ha összeadnánk, hány mondatot írtam le újságíróként, és kötetekbe szerkesztenénk, alighanem több polcot kellene ácsolni a könyveimnek. A novellák, a kisregények írása kezdetben hobbi volt, csak mostanában érzem úgy, hogy lassan a mindennapjaim részévé válik. Igaz, nem kapkodtam el, hiszen negyven éves voltam, amikor megjelent a Mellékhatás című kötetem, és valóban hét évet kellett várni, mire összeállt a következő önálló kötetre való mennyiség, ami Nélküled a jövő címmel került a boltokba.

SFportal: Az első novelláskötetedben még sok misztikus novella is olvasható volt. A második lényegében már csak sci-fiket tartalmaz. Van ennek valamilyen különös oka?
F. Tóth Benedek: Nincs. Az első kötet novelláit két hónap alatt írtam 2006-2007 telén, plusz egy hónap volt a kisregény. Ráértem, nem volt munkám, így hát úgy dolgoztam, mintha lenne. Reggel felkeltem, és írtam. Azt, ami az eszembe jutott. A második kötet novelláit már szerkesztőségi munka mellett írtam, így lassabban is haladtam. Az Álmodsz-e még, és ha igen, miről? című kisregényt pedig külföldön, Belgrádban írtam, amikor hosszabb időre távol voltam Magyarországtól, de aztán, visszatérve, már munka mellett fejeztem be. S hogy miért sci-fik? Mert szeretem ezt a tematikát. Lehetőséget ad arra, hogy úgy foglalkozz a jelen problémáival és gondjaival, az egyénével és társadalméval, hogy az elején elhiteted az olvasóval, hogy ez nem is róla, nem is az ő életéről szól, hiszen eltolsz mindent térben és időben, aztán hagyod, rábízod az olvasóra, hogy ráismerjen önmagára, a körülötte lévő világ, társadalom szépségére és romlottságára.

SFportal: A novelláid többsége érzelmi húrokat penget, ami a sci-fiben egyre ritkább, manapság az ötletek dominálnak jobban és a tudományos eredmények maximális kihasználása… Tudomány vagy érzelem témában te az utóbbi mellé álltál… Érzelmes ember vagy?
F. Tóth Benedek: Tudok sírni filmeken, könyveken, festményeken… ha megérintenek. Nyilván ez megjelenik az írásaimban is. Az érzelmek kimutatása fontos, mert segít abban, hogy megőrizd az őszinteséged. A mai világ arra nevel, hogy rejtőzz el, ölts álarcot, mondj mást az emberek szemébe, mint amit gondolsz, mert így könnyebben érvényesülhetsz. Miközben ezzel csak a hazugságok városát építed, ahol te sem leszel több, mint árnyéklakó.

SFportal: Mi az, ami leginkább foglalkoztat a novellákban?
F. Tóth Benedek: Az ember érdekel. Az, ahogyan beszélünk egymással, ahogyan értintkezünk, bánunk a másikkal. Már gyerekként ráébredtem arra, hogy óriási a távolság a gondolat és a tett között, felnőttként pedig arra kellett rájönnöm, hogy azok is vagyunk, amit nem tettünk meg, csak gondoltunk rá. A tudományos eredmények kész dolgok, gondolatok eredményei. Izgalmas kihívás azokkal játszani, kitalálni, hogyan változatják meg az életünket, hogyan viszonyulunk hozzájuk, de engem mindig is jobban érdekelt, miért válunk gonosszá; mitől szeretünk; miért születik bennünk a vágy; mi a félelem, s mitől vagyunk bátrak; miért önző a szerelem, s honnan nyeri erejét az ostobaság. Az érdekel, hová tűnik a józan ész, amikor pusztítunk, s miért hisszük azt, hogy teremtünk, amikor építünk. A bennünk élő sci-fi érdekel, a megfoghatatlan, de az érezhető.

SFportal: Van olyan szerinted, hogy tökéletes olvasó? Milyen a te tökéletes olvasód?
F. Tóth Benedek: Minden olvasó tökéletes, de mind közül az a legtökéletesebb, aki olvas.

SFportal: Több regényen is dolgozol évek óta. Jelen pillanatban hogy néz ki, melyik lesz a „befutó”?
F. Tóth Benedek: Meglepő talán, de nem sci-fi. Illetve, nálam ezt sosem lehet tudni, ugye. Terveim szerint egy misztikus, mágikus realista regénnyel készülök el. Angyalos, Budapesten játszódik, és, persze, leginkább rólunk, emberekről szól.
